Visual Basic for DOS © is a easy way to write applications for DOS. Providing a graphical interface. Without having to learn all the routines for windows, buttons, scroll bars, dialog, message, input, error boxes and countless other routines, plus windowing inside windows. Giving you an opportunity to get to grips with the actual coding.
I'm using Heavy an HTML editor and viewer that I wrote to write this site. While listening to a CD with a graphical CDPlayer I wrote. When I want to choose numbers on the UK lottery I use Lotto a random number generater for Lotto ©.
      VBDOS , I feel is probably the best place to start to learn how to program as well. It's probably more hands-on then the versions of Visual Basic for Windows © allowing you to use/convert most Quick Basic 4.5 © code for use in VBDOS projects. With VB you can build modules, functions, etc.. Mix libraries to add functionality to your projects. And there are plenty of libraries for VBDOS the best being below.
      There are a lot of Quick Basic sites to get code/programs to add or use with your VBDOS application the best being the All Basic Code site. Basic Guru, qbasic, Basic Downloads and qb Pathfinder for a listing and ratings of QB sites. One other site of interest is Forever Young Software © undocumented DOS site, a DOS programing site.

All Basic Code	ABC, has VBDOS code and QB code that can be used with in VB. Download load the ABC Reader and the yearly archives 95, 96, 97, 98 have the most. CAUTION: these arrchives prepared by the reader can take over 60 mbytes of disk space. Worth it though.
